The challenge
Peabody is one of London’s oldest and largest housing associations, managing a significant portfolio of homes across the capital. The organisation needed to inspect the external envelope of high-rise blocks across multiple estates. Operating in London means navigating temporary flight restrictions that can change at short notice, adding regulatory complexity to any aerial operation. Several blocks qualify as Higher Risk Buildings under the Building Safety Act, carrying legal obligations around the Golden Thread of building information.
Ground-based inspection of these buildings would have required significant scaffolding costs, extended programme timelines, and disruption to residents in occupied homes. Peabody needed standardised, evidence-led condition data to support maintenance planning, resident communication, and regulatory compliance.
